Philips is working with the ecosystem on disruptive digital healthcare innovations to address challenges of the healthcare industry in India

Bangalore, November 23, 2016: Philips innovation Campus,successfully organized their second digital healthcare conclave. The conclave was graced by industry stalwarts like Rajesh Batra,CIO of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, and government officials like Rajendra Pratap, advisor to Union Minister of Health, healthcare providers and a few ambitious start-ups. These stalwarts highlighted how can we leverage digital India for providing better healthcare solutions and that IOT and AI are a powerful combination in redefining healthcare. This comes as an addition to the breakthrough of Big Data in healthcare sector, where the healthcare providers have access to better and relevant data, in turn rendering them capable to offer better care to the healthcare seekers.

As on date our country needs additional 1.5million beds and 3 million doctors by 2034, to be able to render effective healthcare to the ones in need. However, according to a survey conducted by McKinsey, India has only 1.3 hospital beds per 1,000 people-significantly lower than the guideline of 3.5 beds defined by WHO (World Health Organization). The sector needs to focus on the quality, affordability and the reach of healthcare. The only answer to bridge the gap between the problem and the solution is innovative technology.

One such solution provided by Philips innovation Campusin their IntelliSpace Consultative Critical Care (ICCC) solution service. The state of the art hardware and software products that are provided as part of the solution enables clinicians connect to and monitor multiple intensive care units from a central location. Trained healthcare providers and intensive care nurses stationed at the command center can monitor the patients in the peripheral ICUs on a 24/7 basis. This saves costs for the patients and gets best care to them, even at remote locations.

Philips Innovation Campus now plans to make a significant reduction in the maternal mortality rate, with their latest innovation-Mobile Obstetrical Monitoring (MoM). High fetal and maternal mortality rates continue to remain one of the major concerns in the healthcare space. The project will monitor pregnant women for early high risk identification via a new telehealth solution. This will enhance the performance of India’s Frontline Health Workersas they are the first point of contact with the healthcare system in the developing areas, allowing them to save many lives. The project will be a great step towards improved healthcare for the newborn and the mothers.

While cardiovascular diseases have quadrupled in the last 40 years, 50% of the affected patients arrive too late for appropriate treatment. If the patient receives treatment within one hour of the attack- called ‘the golden hour’, possibilities of saving his/her life increase manifold. Philips Innovation Campus has developed the chest pain clinics to answer the problem. The Chest Pain Clinics are aimed at enabling small hospitals and nursing homes to provide timely and quality, ”Emergency Cardiac Care” and thus save lives.Each Chest Pain Clinic will be a clinic or a small healthcare facility equipped with Philips Efficia ECG-100 systems which will wirelessly transmit ECGs of patients in real time from the spokes(Chest Pain Clinics) to the hub. Once a patient is confirmed as suffering from a Myocardial Infarction, known as a Heart Attack, he/she is immediately transported via an ambulance from the Chest Pain Clinic, for primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) within the golden hour.

Apart from addressing the healthcare gaps though technology, Philips Innovation Campus also organized aStart-up Alley, where they chose the best Start-Up, who addressed the common healthcare gaps with utmost precision. The Start-up was chosen in association with NASSCOM and Philips innovation Campus would be mentoring them to better their chosen project.

Ola Play transfers the control of the in-car experience to users from the Driver Console, which enables seamless interfacing with the consumer’s device, once a ride begins. Wipro Selected as Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) Member for the Seventh Consecutive Year

Bangalore, India and East Brunswick, New Jersey, USA – November 21, 2016: Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT, BSE: 507685, NSE: WIPRO), a leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company, today announced that it has been selected as a member of the global Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) – 2016 for the seventh year in succession. Wipro is included in both the DJSI World and Emerging Markets Indices.

A total of 1,986 companies were assessed from around the world of which 316 have been chosen as the DJSI World constituents for the year 2016-17. The IT Services sector saw 91 companies participating globally of which nine have been selected for the World Index.

DJSI is a leading global indicator tracking the financial performance of companies across all industries that outperform on Sustainability. The selection was done based on an exhaustive, rigorous evaluation of Wipro’s sustainability performance on several dimensions spanning economic, environment and social sustainability – a few examples are Climate Change Performance, Corporate Governance, Innovation, Labor Practices and Digital Inclusion.

Separately, Wipro is first in the list among the 100 most sustainable corporations in Asia, in the annual Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking list. The ranking is based on an extensive independent analysis done by Sustainalytics, an environmental, social and governance research and analysis firm.  The annual Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking identifies and celebrates leading firms in corporate sustainability across ten key Asian economies.

Wipro has also been featured in the ‘A List’ of Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) global report, and the India Climate Change Report 2016. Among 193 global companies, Wipro is one of the two Indian companies, featured in the ‘A List’ of CDP’s global report.  It is also one among the 62 companies decoupling emissions from revenue, proving that low carbon transition does not necessarily mean lower revenue. Wipro is among the few companies in India which have aligned its carbon emissions targets with the latest climate science for a 2˚C pathway.

LeEco chairman YT Jia believes India’s user value will surpass China

New Delhi / Bangalore, November 10, 2016: Leading global internet conglomerate LeEco reaffirmed the importance the Indian market has to the company amid its recent strategic realignments.“India represents the future and its user value may surpass China in a few years,” said YT Jia, co-founder and chairman of LeEco at the company’s investor meeting in Beijing on November 10.

“No matter how hard it is to crack the India market, we will try our best to grasp the opportunity there,” Jia said.LeEco pioneers in the industry with its unique ecosystem business model that connects products and services including video streaming, TV, smartphone, content production and electric vehicles. It is also keen to expand its ecosystems around the world with presence in Hong Kong, India, Russia and the US, where India is on the priority list of LeEco.

Now LeEco embarks on a new phase of its development, from capital-fuelled expansion to building a stronger hold of existing markets and achieving higher profit, according to a previous letter Jia sent to LeEco employees.

“We will focus on China, American and India and achieve breakthroughs in these three valuable regional markets,” Jia wrote in the letter. Since its entrance into India in January this year, LeEco has introduced two generations of its Superphone, one generation of SuperTV and entertainment membership services. It has built offices and recruited hundreds of talents in three major cities in India as well as retail networks and a local research centre.

LeEco is committed to the Indian markets and there will be new launches of LeEco products in India in the recent weeks.

Bangalore, November 9, 2016: India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the premier trade body representing the Indian Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry, with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Bangalore and TSSC announced a MoU for opening a Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore represented by Lt Gen (Dr) SP Kochhar, AVSM,SM,VSM (Retd) CEO, TSSC, Naganand Doraswamy, President, TiE Bangalore and K Krishna Moorthy, Corporate Vice President & Managing Director, India Design Center Rambus Chip Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. The second edition of the flagship event, IoTNext 2016, saw a huge turnout from industry thought leaders, startups and stakeholders in the IoT sector.  With this collaboration between TSSC, IESA and TiE, the CoE will help in providing a platform to skill, develop and train blue collared workers in the field of IoT. It will empower the group to focus on gaining competency using some of the best practices and help in creating job opportunities for them as the industry shifts towards automation. IoTNext has mentored around 16 startups since its inception and amongst which Cardiac Design Labs won Google LaunchPad Award with proven success of the mentored startups to work with them to turn their dreams to reality.

With the growth of IoT in every industry, there is an urgent need to train technicians to deploy, manage and maintain the IoT edge Nodes & Gateways. The main objective of the COE is to prepare the current workforce to be industry-ready in the coming years.

The theme of the global summit this year is, ‘Realities and the Road Ahead’ which included keynotes addressed by distinguished speakers. The summit will focus around the areas of IoT security with a joint task force with CISO, LPWAN on the state of affairs to cover large distances with low power radios, Agriculture and Food and IT Platforms & Analytics.
