HID Global Enters Market for Citizen IDs on Mobile Phones

News Highlights:

·         The HID goID platform for mobile IDs is the first to enable secure over-the-air provisioning of citizen IDs to their closest and most convenient confidant … their smartphone.

·         While improving the user experience, HID goID extends trust and security to offline mobile credential authentication and enables secure access to cloud-based government services.

·         The platform is powered by HID Global’s Seos® technology that has already been proven in mobile credentialing for enterprise, healthcare, hospitality, university and banking deployments.

Bangalore, April 26, 2016HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, today announced it has entered the market for mobile citizen IDs that can be carried on smartphones, leveraging the success of the company’s award-winning solutions that have proven the benefits of mobility across a wide variety of secure identity applications.  The HID goIDplatform for mobile IDs enables driver licenses and other government IDs to be carried on smartphones that become all-in-one devices for receiving, presenting and authenticating mobile IDs with the highest level of privacy protection.  This marks a new era in which individuals will be able to confidently use their smartphone as their secure, trusted ID, and governments can reach a new level of convenience in issuing IDs and extending their relationships with citizens.

“Mobile IDs will simplify people’s lives, empower them with more applications and increase the level of trust for individuals to use their digital identity,” said Rob Haslam, Vice President and Managing Director of the Government ID business within HID Global.  “As the first solution to enable convenient yet secure issuing and receiving of credentials over the air, the HID goID platform creates a brand new category for mobile citizen IDs.  Governments around the world already rely on HID Global for major programs, such as the US Green Card, Ireland Passport datapage, Angola National ID and more; HID goID lays the foundation for HID Global to lead the industry’s evolution to mobile IDs as well.”

Powered by HID Global’s breakthrough Seos® technology, the HID goID platform for mobile IDs goes much further to enable instant over-the-air provisioning and streamlined access to cloud-based government information services with the assurance that all transactions are secure and trustworthy. This ensures all transactions related to issuing, managing and presenting credentials using mobile phones are conducted in a highly secure, closed-circuit environment protected by end-to-end encryption.

Seos technology has already demonstrated the transformational power of mobile IDs in numerous applications, and there is growing demand for this capability to provide the equivalent of a digital wallet for carrying multiple identities tied to the user’s one true identity.  A Zogby Analytics poll of 18- to 34-year olds who have smartphones revealed that 39 percent would like to verify their identity with a digital ID instead of showing a driver’s license.  With IDs on smartphones, citizens are in control of the data made available in different scenarios, such as only showing a person’s photo and age.

HID Global is now engaging with national governments and state and provincial driver’s license agencies about the possibility of launching goID pilots that will explore each jurisdiction’s specific platform deployment objectives and requirements.  The solution will eliminate the need for people to stand in lines for new cards and renewals.  Key focus areas include: preventing fraud through authentication over secure channels; optimizing flexibility for online authentication if a citizen’s smartphone battery is dead; simplifying issuance through over-the-air provisioning as already proven at universities, banks, hotels, hospitals and other institutions leveraging Seos® technology; and protecting privacy by utilizing a smartphone’s Bluetooth connection so users can electronically present their credentials without physically relinquishing their smartphones.

The K-Series smartphones will be the first to offer LG’s glossy pebble design, a contemporary, stylish look with a curved, modern finish aimed at a younger audience. The glossy pebble design is complemented by LG’s new 2.5D Arc Glass for a smooth and seamless style that could only be made possible due to the sides of K-series smartphones being free of button clutter. With design cues borrowed from nature, the K10 and K7 look far more expensive and exclusive than they really are.

The back cover features an intricate woven pattern for optimal grip and confidence when on the move. Further, because consumers on the move tend to enjoy an active lifestyle, the K-series is designed with multimedia creation and consumption in mind – with a larger screen to display images and videos captured with the most advanced camera (13MP on the rear and 8MP on the front in the case of the K10) in a smartphone in this category.

Featuring LG’s popular Gesture Shot and Gesture Interval Shot, taking selfies is easy and hassle-free. Gesture Shot enables users to take photos simply by raising an open hand in front of the lens and then clenching it into a fist. Closing one’s hand twice automatically leads to the Gesture Interval Shot and will produce four consecutive photos. Both devices are equipped with Flash for Selfie in the front to help users capture priceless moments whenever and wherever the need might arise, even in the dark.

Pegasystems Acquires Robotic Automation Software Provider OpenSpan

Combination brings robotics, analytics, and case management together to enable more productive employees and better customer experience

INDIA – April 13, 2016 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the software company empowering the world’s leading enterprises with strategic business applications, today announced the acquisition of Atlanta, GA-based OpenSpan, Inc., a privately held software provider of robotic process automation (RPA)  and workforce analytics software. OpenSpan uses robotic automation to ease the burden on customer service representatives (CSRs) by automating routine desktop tasks, thus increasing employee productivity and job satisfaction. By providing insight into desktop activity and automating or eliminating repetitive, time-consuming tasks, OpenSpan frees agents to focus their energy on delivering exceptional customer experience while also helping to lower operational costs.

Running on more than 200,000 desktops at leading global enterprises, OpenSpan provides advanced robotic automation and workforce analytics capabilities that complement and enhance Pegasystems’ Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application suite and Business Process Management (BPM) platform. This acquisition unifies robotics and workforce analytics with case management and real-time analytics for the first time. Organizations can quickly experience the benefits of an integrated desktop and leverage their insights and cost savings to transition effectively into a fully-unified CRM solution.

While customer experience continues to rise to the top of every business agenda, CSRs on the front lines are forced to navigate a hodgepodge of disconnected desktop applications while they try to engage with customers. Distracted CSRs waste time toggling between dozens of different apps to input or review customer data, which frustrates both the customer and the CSR. OpenSpan’s software provides insight into the CSRs desktop environment as well as streamlines and simplifies the desktop, allowing CSRs to focus their full attention on the customer. This opens new avenues for organizations to optimize complex CSR processes, including the ability to:

 ·         Identify workflow inefficiencies: As a first step, businesses can quickly and more easily analyze their employee workflows to uncover hidden hotspots that are causing disruption in customer experience, such as needless and error-prone data rekeying across different apps. This visibility helps pinpoint inefficient processes that could be prime candidates for robotics to digitally transform their operations.

·         Automate desktop processes: CSRs suffering from ‘app overload’ can now benefit from desktop applications operating in a single seamless process – moving data between applications where APIs don’t exist. Solutions can be deployed in weeks, quickly simplifying the employee experience, which leads to a better customer experience.

·         Reduce repetitive tasks: Outside of customer service, many high-volume, low-complexity tasks traditionally done by employees can now be automated without the need for human intervention. Robotic process automation enables these processes – from reviewing claim details to updating transaction systems – to be run unattended, further freeing representatives to meet the needs of their customers.

OpenSpan solutions are deployed at many of the world’s leading financial services, insurance, telecommunications, and retail organizations. A list of clients and customer testimonials can be found at
